AgencyAnalytics releases 2026 Marketing Agency Benchmarks Report

This year is harder, and you’re not imagining it. 494 agencies shared what changed, and what the ones still winning are doing differently.

TORONTO, June 30, 2026 — AgencyAnalytics, the reporting and insights platform built for marketing agencies, released its 2026 Marketing Agency Benchmarks Report. Now in its fifth edition and drawing 494 completed responses, more than double last year’s 226 respondents, it’s the report’s largest sample size to date.

The findings capture an industry facing greater pressure, greater complexity, and greater client scrutiny than at any point in the past five years. 64% of agencies cite Google’s AI Overviews as their top concern, and nearly half say they can’t track users who discover brands through AI tools. Meanwhile, 55% say the question they hear most from clients is “Can you connect marketing performance to revenue?”

And yet 88% of agencies report confidence about the next 12 months. The report shows what’s driving it, and it comes down to how agencies have chosen to absorb the disruption rather than wait it out.

“Every metric says this year should be harder,” AgencyAnalytics CEO Joe Kindness says. “Clients are asking tougher questions, search is less predictable, and proving ROI has gotten more complicated. For most agencies, it is harder. What the data shows is that the agencies staying confident have already changed how they work.”

The report also finds:

  • 79% of agencies save five or more hours per week using AI, with reporting and performance summaries cited as the area of greatest value (42%), a sharp reversal from 2025, when content creation led at 58%

  • 38% are already using agentic AI for workflow automation

  • 66% report increased client demand for AI search services, a category that didn’t exist a year ago

  • 87% of agency leaders held or improved their operating margins year over year, with 68% reporting margins above 20%
